Pizza night

Made pizza last night with the cousins (my cousin, B., her husband (a chef), and their daughter, who has serious culinary skills). This is my nine-year-old's pie (it's a face with horns). I am inspired by people who cook. I am inspired by the happiness food brings. I'd like to cook more.

That kind of friend

I have this friend. She is my friend from forever, pretty much. We grew up a few blocks apart, went to the same elementary school and junior high, became friends with each other's friends in high school and college, and were roommates for a year after graduation. That kind of friend. I've already blogged about my eraser-stamp bookplates -- I'm not tremendously artistic, so I get pretty excited when I'm able to make something I actually like. So after I made the bookplates for WHEN YOU REACH ME, my friend said she thought I should make some eraser stamps for FIRST LIGHT. "Yeah," I said, "I should." But I never did. People, she made some for me (with help from her wonderful and talented daughter, S.)! And they are so, so beautiful!!
