DUMBO

DUMBO is a Brooklyn neighborhood along the East River between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges (DUMBO stands for "Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Underpass.")

My husband and I took the boys to walk around there last weekend. We discovered chocolate "spoons" (best consumed with hot chocolate), a beautiful waterfront park, and some very cool graffiti.

Dear "Anonymous I",

New York City is fun, but not for kids flying solo - imagine getting here and having nothing to eat and no place to sleep. Yuck. But do convince your parents to bring you when they are ready.

Anonymous II,

Glad you like the pictures!

Hi Rebecca - I'm just in the middle of reading "When You Reach Me". It is required reading in my "writing for tweens class" and I'm blown away!

I spent my pre-tween - teen years on the upper west side in the 80s. Your observations are spot on. I vacillate from getting a tad teary eyed, to laughing out loud.

Can't wait to finish the book!

Rebecca,
Hey, it's me, "Anonymous I" again.
So, like, a couple months ago, I finished First Light, so now I've read both of your books.

If you're writing another book, I'm not going to ask you to give away any secrets, but if you are, I will TOTALLY read it.

If you are ever going to visit my city, I will make sure I find out, and go to see you.

Okay, I probably should stop writing because then I'll go on forever.

lovelovelove,
